A MUSSELBURGH man will be sentenced next month after he admitted breaching a court order banning him from having contact with a former partner.

Ross Craigie was handed a non-harassment order banning him from having any contact with the woman when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in June.

But the 23-year-old broke the rules of the order when he repeatedly contacted the woman on social media by sending her abusive messages.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that the messages sent by Craigie contained swearing and offensive remarks.

Craigie also breached the court order by meeting up with the woman on one occasion. All the breaches took place between September 5 and 29.

He was due to be sentenced at the city court last Tuesday but the court was told that the social work reports previously called for were not yet available.

Sheriff Peter McCormack deferred sentence for a second time to December 15.
