AN EAST Lothian man has appeared in court accused of two counts of murder.
Dean McLeod, 40, faced two allegations of murder when he appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.
McLeod, whose address was only given as North Berwick, made no plea during the petition hearing and he has been remanded in custody.
A further court hearing is expected within eight days.
Co-accused Iain McLeod, 65, appeared at the city court last week, where he also made no plea in relation to the two charges of murder.
Emergency services were called to a flat on the city's Greendykes Road last Tuesday evening and found two men dead inside.
Ian McLeod and Dean McLeod were both arrested following the discovery.
The two victims were named by Police Scotland this week as Desmond Rowlings, 66, and Derek Johnston, 37, both from Edinburgh.
Police Scotland’s DCI Susan Balfour, of the Major Investigation Team, said: “We understand that this is an upsetting incident for the local community and I would urge anyone with concerns to speak to one of our officers.”
