DANIELLE Taylor, wife of the ‘Tartan Tornado’ Josh Taylor, has told how she “jumped at the chance” to open her new hair and beauty salon in Prestonpans.

The new salon is called House of Murph and is located on High Street, taking its name from Danielle’s maiden name Murphy.

Danielle told the Courier of her delight in opening, declaring that it was always her dream to start up her own salon.

She said: “It’s just amazing – I’ve wanted this since I was 16.

“A friend was looking to sell her salon and I jumped at the chance.

“It’s kind of like my first baby – I’m buzzing at the outcome.”

East Lothian Courier: Danielle Taylor with Josh Taylor

Danielle started her career as a 13-year-old ‘Saturday girl’ before taking on an apprenticeship at JFK in Edinburgh when she was 16.

She said: “That’s where it started – my passion just grew and grew!”

But now Danielle is able to call herself a salon owner, even if she finds it hard to believe she has come this far.

She said: “It was very surreal; even though I knew it was mine, it didn’t feel real.”

Danielle also told the Courier that her boxing world champion husband Josh had been right behind her all the way, describing him as her “rock”.

She said: “Josh is so supportive on my new venture. He is so excited for me and is looking forward to seeing the salon.

“He’s my rock and always has my back with any decision I make.”

Danielle said she had given the place a complete makeover, redecorating the interior to make House of Murph a unique salon experience.

She added: “I want to give the best to the people of Prestonpans, East Lothian and for our clients – new and old – to come and find everything under one roof.

“We are now looking for more stylists to add to our growing team. I hope that people like the changes; we are open to take on new clients and we hope everyone enjoys the experience.”
