A DUNBAR man who was caught with a collection of indecent images of children has been jailed.
Matthew Reid was found to have downloaded hundreds of the pictures when police raided his home on the town’s Woodbush Place last year.
Reid had hidden his mobile phone containing the indecent images of children inside a pillow case in his bedroom but it was quickly discovered by officers during the search.
The phone was analysed and it was found to hold 390 images and one video showing the rape and abuse of both boys and girls aged between two and 14.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that police officers executed the search warrant at Reid’s home at about 7.50am on January 12 last year.
Reid had previously admitted the offence, committed over a 16-month period, and was back in the dock at the Capital court last Wednesday for sentencing.
Sheriff Robert Fife sentenced the 28-year-old to 10 months in prison and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
Reid admitted possessing indecent images of children at his home address between September 10, 2019, and January 12 last year.
