A MUSSELBURGH man who threatened to rape a police officer has been ordered to attend alcohol counselling by a court.
Brian Bonnar, of the town’s Moir Place, made a threat to find the female constable and carry out the sex assault during a phone call to the emergency services earlier this year.
Bonnar, 31, was arrested and charged with the offence and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for sentencing last Wednesday after he had previously pleaded guilty.
A not guilty plea to an alleged second offence of threatening to bomb Musselburgh Police Station was accepted by the Crown.
Sheriff Roderick Flinn placed Bonnar on a 12-month supervision order and also sentenced him to a conduct requirement where he will have to attend alcohol treatment services when required to do so by his supervising officer.
Bonnar pleaded guilty to phoning emergency services and threatening to find and rape the constable from his former home at the town’s Old Course Gate on August 13.
