A HOME delivery driver, who came to the aid of an elderly customer who bumped her head, has been nominated for an award.

Paul McCafferty has been commended for helping the customer after she fell while he was delivering her groceries from Dunbar’s Asda store.

The 38-year-old was making a delivery in the town and was helping the customer take her shopping in when she tripped, fell, and struck her head.

Paul immediately stepped in and helped her back inside.

She was shaken after the fall, so he made her a cup of tea and made sure she was all right before he continued with the rest of his deliveries.

The next day, Paul, who has worked at the supermarket for about a year, visited the woman – with a bunch of flowers in hand – to make sure she had fullyt recovered.

Paul, who lives in Dunbar, said: “I was helping the customer when she suddenly fell and hit her head.

“I stayed and made sure she was okay before I went to my next delivery. I was worried about her afterwards, so I went to her house the next day to check in and she was delighted to see me. I was glad she was okay!

“I really enjoy my job, especially working with my colleagues and meeting people in the community when out on my deliveries.”

Paul’s good deed did not go unnoticed as Leigh Millar, his store manager, nominated him for a Service Superstar Award.
