A CROSSING which has been in place for nearly eight months could finally be switched on.

A Toucan crossing was put in place on Dunbar’s Spott Road by East Lothian Council at the end of February.

However, the traffic signal is yet to be switched on.

The crossing is wider than a pedestrian crossing and allows for both walkers and cyclists to cross safely.

Now, a spokesperson for East Lothian Council has confirmed it could be operational very soon.

They said: “The contractor is due on site there tomorrow (Friday) and all being well and no last minute problems it is hoped this crossing will go live from tomorrow.”
