A MAJOR employer in Haddington is throwing open its doors to toast 50 years.

PureMalt Products Ltd is marking 50 years of business with an open day next week.

Ross Turner, deputy managing director, encouraged people to head along and find out more about the business, which employs about 100 people.

He said: “We are delighted to reach such a significant milestone!

“In turbulent times post-pandemic, it is a reminder of how important it is to remain resilient through applying and investing in longer-term strategies.

“It is credit to our team and leadership, both past and present, that the business has endured and continues to thrive.”

The business, based on the town’s Whittingehame Drive, manufactures malt-based ingredients.

The range of all-natural malt products are used in a variety of food and beverage business sectors, including brewing, savoury and bakery, confectionery and desserts.

PureMalt, led by owner Bruce Turner, will mark the milestone with a week of festivities, including a charity run and cycle, a party for team members and their families, and a public open day on Tuesday from noon to 3pm.
