East Lothian residents have been told to brace themselves for some disruption amid a Met Office weather forecast for the region and other parts of Scotland. 

The national weather service has warned of strong and freezing winds throughout Friday and has predicted short bursts of heavy rain. 

The rain could cause some flooding and partially impact bus and train services. 

Brighter weather and scattered showers are expected for the rest of the weekend while strong westerly winds are set for Saturday and Sunday.

What to expect from the Met Office weather forecast? 

  • There is as much as a 95% chance of rain at around 1pm  
  • Short bursts of heavy rain throughout the day
  • Strong Southerly winds that could reach as high as 44mph
  • Temperatures are to feel no higher than 10 degrees
  • Humidity could reach 85% 

The BBC forecast

The BBC has predicted a similarly wet and windy end to the week, with a huge weather system of strong winds and heavy rain expected on Friday.

Saturday and Sunday will experience cloudy conditions with small spells of rain and sun.
