CCTV cameras to monitor the performance of players at the training ground of Hibernian Football Club have been given the go-ahead.

The Hibees train at East Mains, near Ormiston, and the club had applied to East Lothian Council for CCTV poles and cameras.

The training ground features five full-size grass pitches, as well as a specialist training area for goalkeepers and an artificial pitch.

The council approved plans for three CCTV poles with cameras after there were no objections from members of the public.

The planning officer’s report said: “The site is well screened from public views and, except from the public right of way to the southwest, it is only visible in long-distance views, principally from a few points on the B6355 to the southeast of New Winton.

“Therefore in their positions the proposed CCTV poles with cameras would be well contained from those public views.”
