A HADDINGTON man crashed his car into a parked vehicle and drove away without providing his details while serving a road ban.

Scott Bennion lost control of his vehicle and collided with the vehicle at the town’s Riverside Drive on July 21.

Bennion, 52, then drove away without stopping, leading police to conduct a search for him.

Bennion was subsequently found to have driven on roads in the town including West Road and the A199 while serving a ban for a previous road offence.

Police officers also discovered he was behind the wheel with no valid insurance for the vehicle.

Bennion was in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday where he admitted to three offences.

Sheriff Kenneth Campbell QC admonished Bennion, of Riverside Drive, on the charges and banned him from driving for two years.
