A DUNBAR motorist who was caught driving while more than three times the alcohol limit has had his sentence deferred to next year.

Daryl Montgomery was found to have 67mg of alcohol in his breath when he was pulled over by police on the A1.

The legal limit is 22mg.

Montgomery, of Garrison Green, Bayswater Road, was also found to have no valid insurance for the vehicle during the incident on June 15.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and was due to be sentenced last week.

But when the case called, Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss said he wanted to see an up-to-date supplementary social work report before proceeding with sentence and deferred to next year.

Montgomery has been banned from driving in the meantime on an interim basis.

Montgomery also had not guilty pleas accepted by the Crown to driving while only holding a provisional licence and having no passenger with a full licence with him or having no L plates displayed, as well as stealing the vehicle from Great Western Road in Glasgow on the same date.
