A WOMAN arrested after the disappearance of a nine-year-old boy in Dunbar has been released from custody pending further enquiries.

The school child disappeared at about 7.05pm on Friday near the town’s Rowan Street.

Police announced more than 24 hours later that the youngster had been found after officers carried out door-to-door enquiries.

The boy was found a few miles outside the town, it is understood.

It has now been confirmed that an arrest was made in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding a missing nine-year-old boy from Dunbar who was traced.

"A 29-year-old woman, who was arrested, has been released pending further inquiries."
