BELLS will continue to ring “half-muffled” from St Mary’s Parish Church in Haddington until Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral.
When the Monarch dies, church bell ringers follow a protocol for bell ringing agreed between Royal authorities and the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers.
Members of the Haddington Society of Change Ringers are following the protocol to honour the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The bells will ring “half-muffled” for services until after the funeral on Monday.
The only exception was when the bells rang to celebrate the proclamation of the accession of King Charles III.
