EUROPEAN folk music will fill West Barns Village Hall later this month in the latest in a series of gigs in the village.

Firelight Trio perform on Saturday, September 24, as part of the Scotland on Tour series.

The three-piece features Ruth Morris on nyckelharpa, Gavin Marwick on fiddle and Phil Alexander on accordion and piano, to produce Swedish polkas and Scottish reels.

Individually, the artists have travelled the globe, drawing inspiration from the musicians and cultures they have met along the way.

Ruth said: “Being able to bring our music to a range of incredible Scottish venues is a real honour.

“After the pandemic, the work Scotland on Tour is doing is extremely important for both the music community and rural areas across the country.

“We’re so looking forward to our gig at West Barns Village Hall; playing to a live Scottish audience is always an amazing experience.”

Still to perform as part of Scotland on Tour at West Barns Village Hall are Adam Holmes next month, Mist & Wing in November and Eilidh Shaw and Ross Martin next March.

Alan Gray, booking coordinator at West Barns Village Hall, was looking forward to the gig.

He said: “They have a great mix of instruments and we anticipate the hall will be jumping with their music.

“Wee Green Events will also have their mobile food van available from 6pm to 7.30pm; there’s a lot going on the weekend of this gig!”
