PLANS are being drawn up for St Mary’s Parish Church’s annual fundraiser to be an “even bigger and better event than before”.

The Martinmas Fair, which traditionally raises thousands of pounds, for the church, is set for November 19.

Stalls, as well as a cafe for teas, coffee and lunches, will be on offer.

As details for the event are being put together, a call has been put out for volunteers to come forward and ensure that the event is again a success.

A spokesperson for the Haddington church said: “We need people to move furniture and chairs and help set up the tables for the stalls and take down and replace at the end.

“We need volunteers to get the posters and fliers out.

“We need stallholders and people to welcome folks to the church, bake cakes for the cafe, wait on tables, make teas and coffees and make or donate items for the stalls – jams, chutneys, bric-a-brac, second-hand books, crafts, cards, garden produce, plant cuttings, dried seed heads – anything we can sell to raise funds for St Mary’s.

“We hope you will put the date in your diaries and will bring your friends, family and neighbours to support us, share in the event and be welcomed to St Mary’s.”

Anyone looking to help should speak to John or Mary McMillan.
