A SLIP road onto the A1 will be closed next Wednesday night (August 17) to allow for investigation works ahead of resurfacing.

The route onto the eastbound A1 at the Oaktree Junction, on the outskirts of Haddington, will be shut from 7.30pm to 6am the following day.

BEAR Scotland is carrying out investigation works in advance of future resurfacing.

Traffic looking to join the eastbound A1 will instead be diverted along the A199 to join the busy road at the nearby Abbotsview Junction.

The main carriageway of the A1 eastbound at Oaktree Junction will be unaffected by the works and emergency services will be given access at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “We need to close the slip road for safety while work is taking place, however we’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise any disruption.

“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”
