THE new-look Hollies minibus is set to make an appearance in this year’s Musselburgh Festival fancy dress parade.

The vehicle has been given a facelift with signage which reflects the High Street facility’s new name – The Hollies Community Hub.

Liz Shannon, hub manager, said: “We would like to thank Tony McKenna, of McKenna Signage in Musselburgh, for doing this free of charge.

“We plan to put the bus in the fancy dress parade on Friday, July 29, with all its new finery.

“We changed our name from day centre at the beginning of the year to community hub to reflect what we actually are.”

Formerly known as the Hollies Day Centre, the facility offers services for older people such as a lunch club and hairdresser, and also has a cafe which is open to members of the public.

The minibus is used for transporting people to and from the lunch club.

The fancy dress parade is a highlight of the festival.

Lorries should assemble at Ashgrove at about 6.15pm for judging to begin at 6.30pm. Pedestrians and cyclists should assemble in Loretto RC Playing Fields, access by King Street, for judging at 6.15pm.

The parade will move off from Pinkie Road at 7pm and will head down Newbigging, turning left onto High Street.

After crossing the bridge, it will proceed along Bridge Street and North High Street before turning right down Harbour Road on to New Street towards Fisherrow Links, where it will disperse.

A festival spokesperson said: “The organisers of Musselburgh Festival work hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy the fancy dress parade and we take very seriously our role in ensuring that it will be enjoyed for years to come.

“As such, we request that costumes and make-up worn by participants is respectful to all.

“We ask that all those dismantling floats at Fisherrow Links ensure that they dispose of their rubbish safely and respectfully.”
