Jacq Cottrell has become the newest member of North Berwick Community Council after her joining the group was announced at its June meeting.
Ms Cottrell stood for the Scottish Greens at the May East Lothian Council elections but narrowly missed out on winning a seat.
The North Berwick resident has been active in community campaigns across the town, including the recent protests about Tesco’s decision to remove house martin nests from the store.
She also brings environmental and ecological expertise from her work as a governmental advisor on green policies to countries in the developing world.
Her addition was warmly welcomed by members.
