A football team from Argentina enjoyed a recent visit to Musselburgh.

The players, from Grilli Canning College in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires, were guests of Musselburgh Windsor Football Club – one of the oldest youth football clubs in Scotland.

The students from Argentina were touring Britain and Europe, and were keen to play the Honest Toun side.

The Windsor’s under-17s team were delighted to take up the challenge, being the same age as the Argentinian players.

They met for the match at Olivebank Stadium – home to Musselburgh Athletic Football Club, – with the home team winning 8-1 after going behind to an early goal.

Cheering both teams on from the sidelines were a female hockey team from Grilli Canning College, touring with the football players.

Johnny Brown, secretary of Musselburgh Windsor FC, said: “The night was about making new friends and not the result.”

At full-time, a barbecue and refreshments were enjoyed by players, students, parents and supporters. A night of further entertainment featured speeches and gift exchanges by both parties.
