MUSSELBURGH Windsor Girls U18s are celebrating cup glory after defeating Hutchison Vale 6-1 in the Southeast League Cup final on Sunday.

The convincing victory made it an incredible four-in-a-row for the 18s side, having won the competition for four consecutive years at the each age group after victory at Ainslie Park on Sunday.

Windsor got off to a flying start to the match and were three to the good after 12 minutes, settling any pre-game nerves.

But Hutchison Vale got back into the game shortly after, reducing the deficit to two, testing the resilience of the Musselburgh girls.

But injuries took their toll on Hutchison Vale as they found themselves down to 10 as they did not have any substitutes available.

Windsor then made the game comfortable, adding two more before Hutchy lost another player to finish with nine.

Musselburgh would then score another to wrap up a 6-1 win, completing a momentous four-in-a-row.

Michael Windram, head coach of the Musselburgh Windsor Girls 18s, was incredibly proud of their achievements, praising their resilience and team spirit that has seen them be so successful for the last four years.

He said: “They were over the moon – finals are always special and it was their fourth in four years.

“They don’t play the occasion, they play the game, and they are so resilient.

“They see the belief in themselves and they have a winning mentality.

“The girls are team-mates but also all close friends and nobody wants to let anyone down."

The day's emotions were heightened as two of the girls (Skye McLean and Katie Neilson) are now heading to the USA on footballing scholarships, ending their Windsor spell with another trophy before taking the next step in their footballing career.

Musselburgh Windsor 14s were also in action on the same day in their Southeast League Cup final but fell to a 3-2 defeat to Spartans.

Falling two behind, the girls battled back to 2-2 with goals from Emeliah Wilson and Lucia McIntyre.

Pushing for the winner, Spartans caught Windsor on the break to score late on and win 3-2, ending the dreams of a Musselburgh Windsor double.
