SEARCH and rescue teams were called out to trace a woman who went missing on North Berwick Law yesterday evening (Wednesday).

Officers were called to the scene at about 10.35pm to locate the woman, calling on the help of a local search and rescue team.

The woman was traced safely by members of the Border Search and Rescue Unit (BSARU) and escorted back to the support vehicles.

The woman was then transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

A BSARU spokesperson said: “We were contacted to assist Police Scotland in the search for a woman missing in North Berwick.

“Team members were tasked with searching the Law, found the woman and walked her back to our vehicles.

“A police dog team and Coastguard were also involved.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called around 10.35pm to a report of a missing woman in the North Berwick area.

"The woman was traced and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment."
