Motorists face an additional night of disruption as ongoing works on the A1 have been extended to include tonight.
The £880,000 project by BEAR Scotland to improve road markings and studs has seen sections of the A1 closed overnight since April 19 between Thistly Cross and Lamberton near the English Border.
Tonight's works will see the entire carriageway close from Tower Farm to Grantshouse with a diversion in place along the A1107.
The works will commence at 7.30pm, concluding at 6am.
Additional works on the same section will also take place on Monday, May 23 as previously scheduled.
Emergency services will still be able to access the road, and residents within the closure points will retain access when it is safe to pass through.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These overnight improvement works will improve safety for motorists using the A1 between Dunbar and the national border.
“We’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption, however we encourage motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys if they do need to travel on these nights.”
