A SCHOOLBOY from Athelstaneford is a playground hero after raising enough money to have a basketball hoop installed in his school’s grounds.
Oliver Dickie (pictured) completed a tough fundraising challenge by cycling or walking 9km every day for nine days ahead of his ninth birthday last February.
Now 10, the youngster’s £500 fundraising total has been put to good use in buying a basketball hoop, among other playground equipment, which has been installed at Athelstaneford Primary School, and is proving to be a hit with the school’s children.
