A Prestonpans man has been found guilty of careless driving following a trial.
Sylwester Kupis, of Acheson Drive, was upset regarding an incident where two children had allegedly harassed his son.
Kupis got into his car to chase after the two scooter-riding children in a bid to confront them, a court was told.
It had been alleged that Kupis drove dangerously and drove along a footpath between North Grange Avenue and the Pennypit Centre.
It had also originally been said that the 48-year-old had collided with one of the scooters being ridden by a 10-year-old boy.
But following a trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Kupis was found guilty of a reduced charge of careless driving and the allegation he had driven along the footpath and struck the scooter was dropped.
Kupis was found guilty of driving a vehicle without due care and attention at North Grange Avenue on April 23 last year.
Sheriff Frank Crowe fined him £400 and placed four penalty points on his licence.
