WOODEN dog poo bag dispensers are now on sale in Musselburgh as part of an environment initiative launched by two local groups.

They have been crafted by members of Musselburgh Men's Shed and gifted to the environment group Love Musselburgh Community C.I.C – Community Projects.

Some of the 10 dispensers, which cost £10 each, have already been sold. Funds raised go back to the Men's Shed and Love Musselburgh Community Projects.

Melanie Roccio, of Love Musselburgh Community Projects, said: "The dispensers are hopefully going to be a longer-lasting version of the plastic bottles we saw being put up around the town some time ago.

"Need a bag? Take one. Have a spare? Leave one.

"It's a nice little way for the community to work together to tackle the issue of dog mess. Each box will come with a roll of bags."

She added: "I'd like to thank three local businesses who have bought them – Porridge Design, Mint Fig and Fitness by Sian Beard.

"The plan is to make more in the near future and it would be great to have businesses, organisations and individuals buying them, and having them throughout the town.

"If anyone would like to pre-order one, please email welovemusselburgh@gmail.com"
