THE Harbours Medical Practice is promoting cold-water swimming to aid physical and mental health.
Swim-in-the-sea sessions kickstarted on Friday at 8am and will continue at the same time each week at the Boatshore, Cockenzie.
A spokesperson said: “We are pretty convinced about the benefits of cold-water swimming for both our physical and mental health.
“It seems particularly helpful in managing feelings of stress, anxiety, panic attacks and low mood
“There is also a growing body of evidence that it can help painful conditions including fibromyalgia and might even boost our immune systems.”
The surgery recommends attendees bring a towel, warm clothes and a hot drink with them and has posted additional safety advice on its website.
