AN EAST Lothian parish priest is not currently in "active ministry" after a complaint was made against him, the Courier has learnt.
The Very Rev Basil Clark, of Our Lady of Loretto and St Michael Catholic Church in Musselburgh and St Martin's RC Church, Tranent, will not be in post while the complaint is being investigated.
A spokesman for the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh said in a statement: "A complaint has been made against a priest based in the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh.
"While it is being investigated, he will not be in active ministry."
No further details are being released by the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh and the nature of the complaint has not been disclosed.
The Courier has so far been unable to reach Father Clark, who lives in Musselburgh, for comment.
During his absence, the parish will be administered by Father Andrew Garden of St David’s, Dalkeith.
