A NUMBER of previously forgotten soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars will be commemorated on war memorial tablets in Prestonpans.
On March 11, representatives of Prestonpans Community Council, East Lothian Council and Prestonpans Royal British Legion met to discuss and finalise the last few names for the new war memorial slabs that will be erected at the rear of Civic Square as part of the ongoing renovation of Prestonpans War Memorial.
DJ Johnston-Smith, community council chairperson, said: “Those who will be commemorated are individuals who lived in or who worked in Prestonpans but were, for various reasons, sadly missed off the original town war memorials. We shall be sharing more information about this list of brave but overlooked Panners soon.
“If you have, or someone you know has, any information about anyone you believe fits the criteria, please get in touch.”
