A TRANENT couple have raised a glass to 50 happy years as they marked their golden wedding anniversary.
Allan and Sheena Gordon wed at South Leith Parish Church on February 26, 1972, and marked 50 years of marriage with a small gathering of 14 of their nearest and dearest at Ravelston House Hotel in Musselburgh last Saturday.
The couple have lived a happy and healthy life together on John Crescent since marrying half a century ago and have welcomed two children, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter together.
Allan, 68, was raised on Steil Grove, Tranent, before he met Sheena, who worked as a secretary in Edinburgh.
Allan said: “I spent 25 years at Bruntons Wireworks before moving on to Lemac in Haddington for eight years and I’ve spent the last 17 years at Charles River Laboratories.”
On their celebrations, Allan added: “It was a lovely afternoon and I was very proud.”
Allan and Sheena, 69, have two sons – Craig, 49, and Jamie, 45 – as well as two grandchildren – Amy, 21, and Erin, five – as well as three-year-old great-granddaughter Gabby.
When asked how it felt to spend half a century together, Allan replied: “Nothing changes.
“You just let the wife be the boss and get on with it, it’s as simple as that!
“She rules the roost and I am very happy to let her wear the trousers.”
