THE opening night of a re-established community pub in Tranent has been hailed a roaring success by its new managers.
The Tower, formerly The Tower Inn, on Church Street, held a grand opening on Saturday to toast to the doors of the iconic watering hole opening once more.
It followed a brief closure of the pub, established in 1902, when it was seemingly sold for residential purposes at the beginning of the year.
The building has since been bought back and leased out to remain a community pub to be ran by new business managers Dominic McNeill and Patrick Cairney.
The cousins thanked everyone that came out on Saturday and said it had been “a great success”.
They added: “We have made the decision to open the pub full time to allow more access to the community.”
The new opening hours are: Monday-Wednesday: 11am-11pm; Thursday: 11am-midnight; Friday-Saturday: 11am-1am; Sunday: 11am-midnight.
A number of events will be announced in the coming weeks, with visitors encouraged to suggest things they would like to see at the pub.
Dominic and Patrick added: “Thank you all and please keep the ideas coming, we are listening and are in the middle of implementing some of these ideas.”
