A HARBOURMASTER has swapped the waters of Dunbar for a new role involving offshore wind farms.

Quentin Dimmer has taken up a role that will see him help in the transfer of engineers and cargo to offshore wind farms throughout Europe.

The 48-year-old, who will be succeeded by Fiona Kibby, told the Courier how much he had learned since taking on the harbourmaster position in April 2016.

He said: “I’ve really, really enjoyed being the harbourmaster.

“It has been brilliant getting to know the fishing community around the harbour, the residents, the harbour directors and all the leisure boat users.

“It has been an incredible experience and what a really great place to work.

“I consider myself quite privileged actually to have been there.”

Quentin, who is originally from Lochgoilhead in Argyll, finished up as Dunbar harbourmaster at the end of last year.

Fiona, who will take up the role on April 25, has had a distinguished career in supply industries and is a keen sailor, with family in Dunbar

Alasdair Swan, chairman of Dunbar Harbour Trust, who manage the harbour, was full of praise for both Quentin and Fiona.

He described Quentin as “really well respected by all the harbour community”.

Mr Swan said: “We feel so lucky to have someone with Fiona’s skills joining us.

“She will pick up the good work started by our previous harbourmaster, Quentin, who left his post in December, and will add her own ideas and touches to the way that the harbour develops.

“Until she joins us in the Spring, we are so fortunate to have the help of Denholm Horsburgh, James Bisset and Ian Combe, who have kept the harbour’s efficient management going over the winter months and the local team are sure to give Fiona a warm welcome when she arrives.”
