A TRANENT motorist has been banned from the road after driving his van dangerously in Edinburgh.

Grzegorz Trzaskowski repeatedly drifted between carriageways and repeatedly braked harshly on the Capital’s Mountcastle Drive North last year.

Trzaskowski, 37, then lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway before striking a traffic sign.

The driver was said to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the incident on March 13 last year.

Following his arrest, Trzaskowski, of Muirpark Road, began resisting and struggling violently with two police officers.

He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week, where he admitted the two charges against him.

Sheriff Norman McFadyen banned the motorist from driving for 22 months and told him he must complete the extended driving test before he is allowed back on the road.

Trzaskowski will also have to carry out 205 hours of unpaid work in the community.
