A Musselburgh seafood restaurant has been shortlisted as one of the best in Scotland in the Food Awards Scotland 2021.

East Coast Seafood & Grill, on North High Street, is in the running for an accolade in the ‘Best Seafood Establishment – Scotland’ category.

The winner will be announced at a special awards ceremony in Glasgow on Monday, November 29.

The national food award ceremony is marking its seventh anniversary celebrating the best in the food industry.

It will showcase restaurants, chefs, suppliers, servers and manufacturers that take people’s taste buds around the world from the comfort of Scotland.

Owned by Carlo and Katia Crolla, East Coast is the next chapter for the Crolla family, who have been serving Musselburgh residents and visitors from their venue on North High Street since 1974.

Mr Crolla said: “We’re really proud to be a finalist in this year’s Food Awards Scotland and continue to gain recognition as one of Scotland’s best seafood restaurants.

“Being a finalist in this year’s Food Awards Scotland is another proud moment for the whole East Coast team and is a real testament to everyone’s hard work in what has been another challenging year.

“It’s quite common for businesses in smaller towns like Musselburgh to be overlooked in national competitions and not get the recognition they deserve, so it’s a great feeling to be able to successfully represent a business from the East Lothian town on a national level in a contest with such stiff competition.

“We were also recently voted East Lothian’s ‘Best Seafood Restaurant 2021’ in the Scottish Enterprise awards, as well as winning accolades as one of Scotland’s best takeaways, including the ‘Good Food, Gold Seal Award’ for ‘Best Fish & Chips 2021’, and ‘Lux Life Food & Drink’ award for ‘Fish & Chip Takeaway of the year’ for Edinburgh and the Lothians.”
