A BUS offering coronavirus and flu jabs to priority groups, including people aged over 70, will stop off in Ormiston and Gullane this week.

East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (ELHSCP) is launching its own dedicated vaccination bus from today (Tuesday).

Initially, the bus will offer Covid-19 booster and flu jabs to people over the age of 70 and also those who clinically extremely vulnerable.

The bus will visit different communities across the county providing options for people who may struggle to get to larger sites in Haddington or Musselburgh.

It is also an opportunity for people to receive a flu jab or Covid-19 booster if they did not have the opportunity to attend the appointment they were offered, or for those invited for flu vaccination but it was too early for them to have a Covid-19 booster.

Krista Clubb, ELHSCP primary care vaccination service manager, said: “The vaccination bus and drop in clinics have proved to be a huge success across the NHS Lothian area and have supported many thousands of patients to conveniently access their Covid-19 vaccination.

“The ELHSCP vaccination team and East Lothian Council have worked closely on this collaboration and we are delighted to finally have the bus ready to support our service.

“The way that vaccinations are delivered is changing in Scotland and, as part of our primary care improvement plan, all vaccinations will be administered by ELHSCP rather than individual GP practices.”

The bus stops off in Ormiston medical practice’s car park from 10.30am to 12.30pm and from 1-3pm today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday) before heading to Gullane’s medical practice the following day and Friday.
