A MENU inspired by one of Scotland’s favourite literary police inspectors is being served up in Gullane – with the author in attendance.

The Bonnie Badger is hosting an exclusive dinner with revered Scottish author Ian Rankin – who penned the hugely successful Inspector Rebus series – next month (November).

Fans with an equal appreciation for crime writing as they have for mouth-watering food are being invited to attend the novel experience.

A four-course dinner will allow 26 guests to join the author, who has penned more than 20 novels based around the officer, in a relaxed dinner celebrating his renowned character, which has also been portrayed on television by John Hannah and Ken Stott.

The menu, created by chefs Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack, and head chef Matthew Budge, has been inspired by the author’s character and includes dishes such as curried hand-dived Orkney scallops, and deep-fried halibut with hand-cut chips and hollandaise.

Each course can also be paired with a wine matching package, or beer pairing in a nod to Rebus’ love of an IPA.

The evening, on November 26, begins at 7pm with an introduction from award-winning chef Tom Kitchin, and will include a Q&A with Ian Rankin, who will also join guests for the dinner.
