SMALL businesses throughout East Lothian are being urged to sign up to a national campaign championing their cause.
Small Business Saturday takes place on the first Saturday in December and encourages shoppers to support all types of small businesses.
Martin Whitfield, South Scotland MSP, is calling for businesses to take part in the campaign and use it to promote what they offer to local customers.
Mr Whitfield, a former East Lothian MP, is also planning to highlight local businesses in the run-up to December 4.
He described the nationwide campaign as “a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and support the vital contribution small businesses make in their local communities and economies”.
Mr Whitfield said: “After the hardships so many businesses have endured through the pandemic, this is an important and welcome opportunity to help give them a boost at this most important time of the year.
“The campaign’s efforts to encourage people to shop locally and support small businesses in their locality have always enjoyed great success.”
