THE Port Seton Centre is facing closure one night a week for the foreseeable future due to “extreme short staffing” issues.

After a consultation between the centre, on Seton Park, and the chair of the management committee, the facility will close for one night a week from Monday.

This will then be staggered over weekday evenings for five weeks, by which time the centre hopes to have recruited more staff.

The centre will close on the following dates at 6pm, with the exception of November 12, when the centre will be closed all day for a staff away day.

The dates are: October 11, 19 and 27, and November 4 and 12.

In a statement, a centre spokesperson said: “We apologise for the inconvenience, we have been trying as much as possible to move staff across our four centres and look at alternative key holder arrangements but this has not been possible to cover these dates. We will update if there are any further closures anticipated as soon as possible.”
