A TRANENT woman who threw a glass bottle at a man has been ordered to pay a fine.

Michelle Foy hurled the bottle during an altercation with Daniel Davie at Winton Place on July 13 last year.

Foy, of Steil Grove, was told by Sheriff John Cook she must pay a fine of £290 during a hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday.

Lawyer Simon Collins told the court there had “been an incident earlier that day” where a male had gone to her door and called Foy “a junkie”.

Mr Collins said the offence resulted following “a reaction” from 39-year-old Foy and at the time of the incident she had been “seeking solace in alcohol”.

Foy pleaded guilty to a charge of throwing a glass bottle at Daniel Davie at Winton Place on July 13 last year.

Co-accused David Moffat, 35, had previously been jailed for his part in the incident with Mr Davie.

Moffat, also of Steil Grove, had admitted to challenging the man to fight with him while in possession of a razor.

Sheriff Adrian Fraser handed Moffat a four-month custodial sentence at the city court on August 19.
