TWO drivers have been arrested in East Lothian for alleged drink-driving in unrelated incidents over the weekend.

A 46-year-old man was stopped on the B1361 at Prestonpans at about 11.25pm on Sunday and failed a roadside breath test for alcohol.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old woman also failed a roadside breath test for alcohol when she was pulled over on Forth Street, North Berwick, at about 12.35am on Monday.

The man and woman were both arrested and charged with section 5 of the Road Traffic Act – driving above the prescribed alcohol limit.

East Lothian Police said in a statement: β€œIt is very disappointing that, despite our focus on prevention and warnings about the dangers of drink-driving, people continue to risk it and put the lives of themselves and others in serious danger.”
