A SECTION of Neilson Park in Haddington and a footpath beside it were roped off by police today following an alleged assault on a young woman yesterday evening (Saturday).
Police officers stood at two of the entrances to the park, while a small section of the park beside the children's play park was sealed off with police tape.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing into a report of an assault on a young woman at Neilson Park in Haddington.
“The incident happened during the evening of Saturday, September 4.
“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing and at an early stage.
“Local residents can expect to see a police presence in the area of the park while this work continues.”
