A PRESTONPANS thief will be sentenced next month after he admitted stealing goods from several East Lothian supermarkets.

Christopher Storrie, of South Grange Avenue, stole a quantity of meat from the Co-op on Links Road, Port Seton, on September 13 last year.

He also took similar goods from Asda in Tranent on October 23 last year.

Last Monday, Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told the Port Seton theft amounted to £48 and none of the stolen goods had been recovered.

The Asda theft saw £23 of goods not recovered and £10.50 worth of meat recovered by police.

Storrie also pleaded guilty to taking meat and fish from Lidl at High Street, Prestonpans, and to assaulting a staff member by pushing him on the body on February 18 this year.

He also admitted taking a quantity of alcohol from the town’s Scotmid and a quantity of meat from the Co-op in Port Seton on February 26 this year.

The 40-year-old had guilty pleas accepted in his absence at the city court last week and sentence was deferred to next month by Sheriff Adrian Fraser for his personal appearance.
