TWO men have been charged in relation to a series of alleged housebreakings and attempted housebreakings in Tranent and Musselburgh.

The men, aged 20 and 22, were apprehended following a pursuit by local police officers, along with colleagues from roads policing, a police dog handler and specialist resources on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland: “Subsequent enquiries identified them for other alleged offences and they have since been charged with three housebreakings and five attempted housebreakings across Tranent and Musselburgh.

“These housebreakings occurred between July 21 and 27.

“The two males were also charged with a number of road traffic offences and were held to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.”
