SCOTLAND’S leading fiddle orchestra will bring live music to the grounds of Newhailes House in a free performance this Saturday.

The National Trust for Scotland will host The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra at the Musselburgh venue.

Described as “Scotland’s leading fiddle orchestra”, the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra performs in major concert venues in Scotland and the UK every year.

The orchestra has been at the forefront of promoting and performing traditional Scottish music since 1980.

Due to the pandemic, the group was forced to cancel seven UK concerts, as well as a tour of the USA and Canada.

Members were delighted to reunite and perform together outdoors for the first time this year at Astley Ainslie Hospital in Edinburgh in June for patients, staff and their Patron, HRH The Princess Royal.

The orchestra will perform at Newhailes a short programme of Scottish traditional favourites, conducted by Blair Parham.

It will be led by Yla Steven, who will be joined by mezzo soprano Colette Ruddy and piper Catriona Norman.
