IT IS HOPED the “rejuvenated” Ship Inn at Musselburgh will create jobs and opportunities for young people, as well as a place for locals and visitors to meet up.
The well-known pub on North High Street reopened last month after “a substantial refurbishment”.
It now features a large, bright bistro dining area with “a huge focus on quality Scottish produce”.
A terraced area will be used for outdoor dining and drinks in the warmer months.
Bosses at the Ship say the front bar has retained “the traditional feel” with a solid oak bar, wood burning fire and range of premium beers, wines and spirits.
Owners Caledonian Heritable say they have made a number of investments in East Lothian over the past year, from the Ship Inn to the Winton Arms in Pencaitland and Keepers Arms, now known as the Tranent Arms.
“The company hopes that these rejuvenated spaces will create jobs and opportunities for young people and places for locals and visitors to meet up and enjoy some of the best produce that Scotland has to offer,” said a spokesperson.
