A COUNTY chef acted aggressively and uttered threats of violence towards his partner.

Walter Kay shouted and swore at his partner before punching household items during an incident at an address in Dunbar in April.

Kay, of Browns Place, East Linton, also called the woman derogatory names and was said to have acted in an aggressive manner towards her.

The 48-year-old pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month.

Lawyer Angela Craig said that Kay was not able to attend court for the sentencing hearing last Wednesday due to work commitments.

She said that the offence was committed after Kay had been “binge drinking” but added he had “not touched a drink since the incident”.

The court heard a report from the Caledonian Men’s Programme that had been called for was not available.

However, Sheriff Adrian Fraser was told a social work report did state that Kay did not admit to carrying out the offence.

Sheriff Fraser said he would defer sentence for the report and for Kay’s personal appearance to next month.

Kay pleaded guilty to acting in an aggressive manner towards the woman on April 4.
