THERE are long queues and significant delays on the A1 following two accidents on the same stretch of road today (Tuesday), only two hours apart from each other.

Shortly after 10am there was a crash involving one vehicle on the eastbound (southbound) carriageway between Wallyford and Tranent.

Lane two was blocked and there was a long queue of slow-moving traffic at the scene.

The scene was clear by 12.47pm. It is not known if anyone is injured.

At 12.30pm there was a second accident on the same section of road before the exit slip road to Wallyford.

The incident was then moved from lane two to lane one of the slip road.

Traffic was queued back onto the Edinburgh City Bypass (A720) up to Mllerhill, near the junction with the A68. Drivers were told to expect a 20-25-minute delay.

The accident was cleared by 1.45pm and both lanes are now running well.
