EIGHT incidents of vandalism and two cases of fireraising were among crimes recorded by police in the Tranent and Elphinstone area over the past month, a report has revealed.

Details of all the crimes recorded in the area over the most recent month were included in a report sent to Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council ahead of the group’s meeting on Tuesday.

In the past month, there were 274 calls made to police regarding the Tranent and Elphinstone area, with a total of 46 crimes recorded as a result.

In April, of those crimes which were acquisitive – where a criminal derives material gain – three were house break-ins, five were shoplifitings, two were the theft of a vehicle, five were other thefts and six were fraud.

With regards to violence, four assaults were recorded, as were five cases of threatening or abusive behaviour and one incident under the Communications Act.

One drug-related crime was recorded, as was one road traffic offence and three other miscellaneous offences.
