A RAIL union strike means there will be no ScotRail trains running between North Berwick and Edinburgh tomorrow (Sunday).

The strike, by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT), has led to all Sunday services between North Berwick and Edinburgh being cancelled.

LNER and Cross Country services to and from Dunbar will continue.

The cancellations are due to ongoing strike action over a pay dispute.

ScotRail said it is "because of strike action by the RMT during the Covid-19 pandemic over calls for a 50 per cent increase in overtime payments for no additional hours worked".

The strike action means there will be no trains stopping at Musselburgh, Wallyford, Prestonpans, Longniddry, Drem or North Berwick tomorrow.

The only servces that are running are in the west of Scotland.

The news comes amid weekly walkouts by ticket examiners and conductors.

Last month rail union members voted in favour of strike action over a dispute around "equality and justice over enhanced payments for rest day working", with May 2 marking the first of their six weeks of action.

It was also due to be the last of six Sundays of strikes by conductors but workers began another six Sundays of action from May 9.

ScotRail train care workers are set to strike on Monday over the company’s breach of dignity and respect policy, however the rail firm said no services will be affected by the walkout.
