A SECTION of East Lothian’s busiest road will be closed overnight between Haddington and Dunbar later this month.
Roadworks on the A1, between the Thistly Cross and Abbotsview junctions, mean that the road will be closed from 10pm on May 22 until 6am the following day.
A spokesman for Bear Scotland confirmed that work was being carried out by Keltbray on behalf of ScottishPower.
He said that Keltbray had produced a statement, which reads: “Keltbray, on behalf of ScottishPower, are carrying out essential work on a section of overhead lines between May 22 at 10pm to May 23 at 6am which will result in the closure of a section of the A1.
“This will include work on the high voltage and low voltage networks, changing electricity poles and overhead power cables.
“We are replacing and refurbishing equipment which is coming to the end of its serviceable life, which is essential works to make sure we maintain a good quality of supply for our customers.
“A diversion route will be in place.
“Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.”
